Palm Wireless Traffic Service
If you hate traffic, you're going to love this Real-time Traffic Monitoring service from Palm.
I use the Palm Treo650 every morning to check the traffic conditions before driving to my first meeting.
After each meeting, I check the traffic on the roads before driving to my next meeting. After lunch, I check again for traffic and at the end-of-day I can see how bad the traffic will be on the way home.
If there is an accident, I can change my route or call ahead and warn my appointment that I may be a little late to the meeting (due to heavy traffic).
Traffic slow-downs and "Heavy Traffic Events" are indicated with Little "Red and White Circles" on the maps.
Heavy Traffic Events include: an accident or a major event with increased traffic. Baseball games, Concerts and County Fairs.
Any traffic slow-down is color-coded with "Red, Orange and Yellow Flags." You can zoom-in on a road of interest and see the actual speed on the road inside the colored tag.
NOTE:
• You must have a data service subscription from your wireless carrier to use the Traffic service. Check with your carrier for availability. Wireless service coverage may not be available in all areas.
• When you download and install the client, you will have the ability to sign up for a free 14-day trial subscription to the Traffic service. After the trial period, a subscription to the Traffic service is required to use the client.
